Plane crash kills two in Suffolk, Va. Saturday afternoon

UPDATE: Saturday night, Virginia State Police identified the two victims as 53-year-old Eric John Bergevin and 54-year-old Christian Rask Fauchald of North Carolina.

SUFFOLK, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a plane crash that killed two people Saturday afternoon.

Police say around 12:16 p.m., a small passenger plane went up in flames after crashing in the city of Suffolk. At this time, it is unknown what make and model the plane is.

Suffolk Fire Department was able to put out the blaze, and secure the scene. Suffolk Police Department has the area contained. The FAA and NTSB have been notified, according to Virginia State Police.

The investigation remains ongoing.
