Major upgrades slated for Northside Park playground in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md.- After 20 years, the playground at Northside Park in Ocean City is getting a makeover.

It was built back in 2002 and the OC Parks and Recs Department tell us it was time to give the playground a little TLC.

The upgrades include a complete replacement of existing equipment with new slides, a climbing pyramid, and additional platforms.

Officials tell us the area is already incredibly popular and the changes will be necessary to keep the space attractive for visitors and the community. “Northside Park gets thousands, and thousands, and thousands of visitors every year because we have tournaments and it’s just an open and wonderful place with the playground and kayak opportunities, and just simply some wonderful outdoor recreation,” OC Parks & Recs Director Susan Petito said.

The playground will be closed starting this upcoming Monday, January 30th.

The project is expected to be completed by April.
