Funding for local projects in Wicomico County
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Wicomico county council came together this morning alongside U.S. Senator Ben Cardin to discuss some issues in the county.
County members discussed federal funding for local projects. That included about a dozen priorities that they were able to share along with the airport. Specifically the needs of the development surrounding the area, along with the runway extension. Jeff Merritt representing district 2 says that for businesses this airport issue needs to be resolved so new businesses can come to the area.
He also says the county does have some hefty projects already on its plate, however, sewage issues are also a priority. It’s a project of is a little late coming out of the starting gate. It’s going to be a time-consuming, fairly time-consuming, and costly project so we want to make sure things don’t get held up on the state or federal level,” says Jeff Merritt.
Officials say the meeting went well during this busy time, though there is no timeframe on these projects, Merritt says Senator Cardin is committed to helping the needs of the county.
