Elementary school to acquire updated garden

Milsboro, DE- The Longneck Elementary school has partnered up with the SNAC Garden Foundation in order to give their school garden an update.

SNAC is a charity foundation that partners up with schools in the Indian River district and Sussex county to provide gardens and greenhouses to students that act as outdoor classrooms for STEM studies and to learn other gardening skills.

Executive Director of the SNAC Garden Foundation says: “Part of our garden space is an outdoor classroom, basically we partner with the school and work out a schedule to have all the kids rotate out into the garden classroom and one of our educators trained in the curriculum will teach them science and they’ll do gardening task as well.”

On top of updating the garden for students the school will also receive a greenhouse in the future thanks to a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust Foundation, which will allow them to hire a professional to complete the project.
