$200M for fiscal year 2023 in Virginia

VIRGINIA – $200 million dollars in federal funding is now secured in Virginia with the senate’s passage of government spending bills for the fiscal year 2023.

Virginia Senator Tim Kaine says he is proud to put some of this funding back into local community projects, to ensure safe and equal communities. The senator says this budget will make history, after last year’s process allowed congress members to work with the communities they represent.

The bills are set to help national priorities including “Medicaid to cover moms for up to a year after childbirth, instead of 90 days which was the previous law. In the education space, significant increases in pell grants. In the armed services and defense portion of the bill, a significant increase in defense, this is the best budget for shipbuilding and ship repair that’s ever been passed in the history of this country,” says Senator Tim Kaine, of Virginia.
