DOC seeking bids from health providers to serve probationers

Vlcsnap 2022 11 18 16h17m48s63DELAWARE – Health care just got more accessible for those on probation.

The Delaware Department of Correction is now taking bids from healthcare professionals to make it happen. It would offer probationers behavioral health, substance abuse assessments, and counseling. Officials say it balances community safety and rehabilitation.

47 ABC spoke with the DOC to learn how this will help the probationer get ahead. “This is an opportunity for probation and parole and for the community to connect folks with their level of care, and this in turn helps them overcome certain obstacles in their life that they’re maybe dealing with,” says Heidi Collier, the Deputy Chief of Community Corrections for the Delaware Department of Correction.

The selected provider will lead behavioral health and substance abuse assessments each year. This would help up to 4 thousand Delawareans. Bid details can be found on their website. Bids are due November 22nd.
