Clean hydrogen hubs coming to Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. – Sussex County is about to get a whole lot cleaner.

Thanks to President Joe Biden’s infrastructure package that passed about a year ago. With this funding, the area will be getting clean hydrogen hubs which will in turn reduce carbon emissions. DART buses will start to run on this clean energy.

Officials say to do this they have to replace some of the dirtier fuels with cleaner fuels for a greater and healthier long-term impact. “A lot of folks across Sussex have suffered from high gas prices and high diesel prices in particular, and so one way to reduce that risk in the future is by having cleaner, more locally sourced, and more reliable fuels that are also cheaper,” says Collin O’Mara, the CEO of the National Wildlife Federation.

O’Mara says Delaware has always been on the cutting edge, however, it’s important to note that the first state can have both: a great environmental health and a strong economy. Residents in the first state should start seeing this clean energy now well into the new year.
