‘Back to Pre-covid Numbers’: Tanger Outlets vendors see strong sales for Black Friday

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach are reporting a strong day of sales that continued throughout the day Friday, as customers filled almost all available parking spaces at Tanger Outlets Surfside.

“During the holiday season from Black Friday to Christmas is our heaviest traffic time and it is really turning out really well, we won’t have final numbers until tomorrow but this is absolutely a strong showing,” said Marketing Director Trisha Kashner.

Kashner tells 47ABC, that the outlet has been offering retail spaces to smaller chains, and small businesses outside of typical big-box brands, and she is thrilled they get to have that exposure.

BluVintage Boutique is one such business and saw its first-ever black Friday this year at the Tanger Outlet location.

“We were so nervous, we had to get here an hour early to make sure we had a place to park, and we weren’t sure if the weather would drive folks out, but it filled up so quick,” said BluVintage Boutique Owner Theresa Owens.

Owners tell 47ABC that a typical sales day can see between 30 to 150 people walking in, a number that was completely dwarfed by the Black Friday shoppers.

“This is like a return to summer, more even, it looks like we could triple our usual sales before the end of the night because it is not slowing down with customers and I am so excited,” Ownes said.

She says her business has been around for 5 years, but being able to staff and survive a Black Friday shopping season was a milestone she was extremely proud of.

“Its great that we can stand toe-to-toe with the bigger guys, people come in they have no idea we are a local business and that’s a great feeling,” she said.
