Local organization gathering donations, volunteers to help victims of Hurricane Ian
MARYLAND – An organization based out of Grasonville, Md. is looking for volunteers and donations to help with Hurricane Ian relief.
“The most needed items right now are going to be cots, tarps, sleeping bags, tents, disposable or portable grills, propane, charcoal, utensils, stuff to eat with and cook with,” said First Light for First Responders (FLFFR) Chief of Operations, Justin Davis. “There are certain parts we will be going to that are an extended amount of time before they get electric back.”
FLFFR is teaming up with the Lions Club International and Lions Club Eastern Shore chapter for transportation needs. “Any local organizations that are willing to have extra stuff laying around donated, we can take it down for them, also. We’re just trying to help everybody out as much as we can,” said Davis.
FLFFR is also looking for donations of food, water, and clothing. Clothing must be new or gently used, labeled, and boxed up. Pick ups can be arranged for larger donations, says Davis. He adds that lists of drop off locations and needed items will be frequently updated.
The organization is also looking for volunteers to man the missions. Davis says volunteers will be sent in groups every week, and rotated out.
