Wicomico Co. Executive candidates set to face off in forum at Salisbury University
SALISBURY, Md. – Next Tuesday is Wicomico County’s chance to hear from the candidates vying for the County Executive’s seat. Salisbury University’s PACE, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Salisbury Committee (GSC) are hosting the forum.
“It’s the three candidates for County Executive. It’s Republican Julie Giordano, Democrat Ernie Davis, and Libertarian Muir Boday. We just met Wednesday morning to kind of hammer out some questions,” said President and CEO of GSC, Mike Dunn. “I think we’re going to get a little bit more focused on the questions. In a primary, everybody’s to some degree just trying to get established; who they are as a candidate. Well, now November the 8th is real close.”
Dunn says candidates will face questions about issues important to Wicomico County residents. That includes bipartisanship, governing philosophy, what big changes they might make to the County and office of the County Executive.
“It’s a lot of the things that are important locally; economic development, the airport situation, water and sewer challenges here in Wicomico County. Really, as much as anything, we want to know how are these people going to govern?” said Dunn.
Plus, Dunn says it’s a perfect opportunity for voters to get to know the candidates before they hit the polls come November. “This is America. There is really nothing more sacred than the right to vote. It makes no sense for anyone to walk into a voting booth uninformed. So, this is our chance,” he said.
The forum will be held in the Holloway Hall auditorium at Salisbury University at 6 p.m. on September 27th. The event is free and open to all. 47ABC’s Hannah Cechini will be moderating the forum.
