Preston man seriously injured in Easton rollover crash

EASTON, Md. – A Preston man is in critical but stable condition after a crash Friday afternoon.

Easton Police say around 4:30 p.m. on September 9th, officers responded to a serious crash at the intersection of eastbound Ocean Gateway and Airport Road. Investigators say a 59-year-old man from Easton was attempting to turn left onto Airport Road from Ocean Gateway in his 2018 Ford F150 pickup truck. The driver had a green arrow, according to police.

Police say as the man was turning, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 27-year-old Preston man hit his vehicle. Witnesses told police that the Chevrolet was speeding past other stopped vehicles on the right shoulder. After the crash, the Tahoe rolled several times along the shoulder of the road before landing in a grass field, according to police.

As the Chevrolet rolled, police say the driver was ejected. He was airlifted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma and is listed in critical but stable condition, according to police. Police say the driver of the Ford was taken to Memorial Hospital in Easton for minor injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Ocean Gateway were closed for just over three hours as investigators worked and cleared the scene.
