Mental health tool launched at Wor-Wic Community College
SALISBURY, Md. – More than 3 quarters of students have thought about leaving higher education because of mental health issues.
Wor-Wic Community College launched a new tool recently to help with those challenges. Student success officials understand that school can be a stressful time and by making this tool they tell 47 ABC it is to help support students.
No matter their differences, the app has mental health officials in different backgrounds to help all students. “There’s a lot of stigma around seeking out mental help it takes so much for a student to walk into a mental health office and actually say I actually need help. We’re hoping this really meets students where they are,” says Student Success Director, Michael Webber.
Wicomico County is also raising awareness for suicide prevention today by wearing yellow. To learn more about the tool visit the schools website and click on the services and support tab.
