Crew member air lifted from Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas ship near Kent Island


KENT ISLAND, Md. – A cruise employee is on the mend after having to be air lifted off the Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas in the Chesapeake Bay.

Maryland State Police say around 7 p.m. Friday, the aviation crew from Easton Section Trooper 6 was called to the rescue off the shore of Kent Island. The United States Coast Guard Sector Baltimore had reported that the cruise ship was requesting immediate aerial evacuation for one of its crew members, who was experiencing a serious medical event.

A trooper/rescue technician was lowered from the Leonardo AW-139 aircraft onto the deck of the ship, successfully evacuating the patient. The patient was later taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

Police have not released details on what type of medical event the patient was experiencing, or their current condition. enforcement agencies, and our partners at the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Park Police.
