Delmar officials close State Street playground temporarily amid safety concerns
DELMAR, Del. – One playground in Delmar is temporarily closed after town officials discovered some safety issues.
Those visiting State Street Park will find the playground, except the swing set, blocked off by caution tape. It will stay that way until the town can make repairs, according to Town Manager Jeff Fleetwood.
“I noticed some cracking in the piping, and cracking in some of the fiberglass,” said Fleetwood. “It raised concerns for me. So, to err on the side of safety, we shut that down. But, I remind anyone in the town that we have more than one playground.”
Fleetwood also tells 47 ABC that Tuesday, he met with a certified vendor to get the repairs and or replacements underway. He says the town is working on nailing down pricing and timeline of work with the vendor.
If you’re looking for an open playground in Delmar, Fleetwood encourages you to visit Gordy Park or Mason Dixon Park.
