Brandyvine Valley SPCA fly in 88 dogs from Louisiana for adoption on Delmarva

GEORGETOWN, Del.-

88 dogs today are on their way to a new home thanks to the Brandywine Valley SPCA.

The dogs arrived by plane this morning from Louisiana to Coastal Airport in Georgetown, as part of the Wings of Hope initiative.

The dogs will head to 3 campuses in Delaware including, Georgetown, Dover, and New castle.
They were taken off the plane and into the shade to be given a chance to cool off, and then brought in vans to those sites by a team of over 50 volunteers.
Organizers tell us the amount of dogs that have been saved from being put down makes the volunteering worth it.

“We bring them from that area because before we got there only 78 percent of animals coming in were left alive, with our team embedded there we are now saving 90 percent of all animals,” said Second Chance program director Laura Page.

She says the generosity of those on Delmarva and their willingness to adopt is the reason the program is able to ship the animals every two weeks and find them homes.

For those looking to adopt, next week all locations will be waiving all fees associated with adopting at all 3 locations in Delaware.
