“Billfisher” wins White Marlin jackpot

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The “Billfisher” takes home $4.4 Million with a 77.5-pound White Marlin that stole the show on the final day of the tournament.

Jeremy Duffie, of Bethesda, Md., and his crew worked for just over half an hour to reel in the winning fish around “11-ish” on Friday morning. After a couple of hours his boat came back to the scales to prevent the fish from losing weight, as they felt they could have a winner.

“Got a bite, about 35, 40 minutes later kind of looked at it, realized it was a nice one and got it in the boat,” Duffie said, describing the scene that morning. “Very blassed”

Thursday, we saw the C-Student bring in a 71.5-pound White Marlin, that boat from Southside Place, TX, wins $120,000 for their second place fish.

In the Blue Marlin, the “Cabana” out of Fenwick Island, DE, reeling in a 511-pound fish, and they take home $960,000. The angler is Bill Britt from Sandy Spring , MD.

The Tuna saw the toughest competition, as a 247.5-pound fish was hauled in by “Southern C’s” from Ocean City, MD, netting $940,000 for angler Jason Hersh, of Pennsylvania, and his crew.

“Big stick” out of Ocean City with a 246.5-pounder takes home $100,000 for Anderson Bowen’s team.

In the Wahoo, it’s the “Jenny Poo” from Palm Beach, FL with a 71-pounder. Chris Thompson of Mount Airy, MD, is the angler for the Jenny Poo.

“WaterMarlin” out of Seaford wins $20,000 for their 54-pound Wahoo for Seaford resident Hans Mulford and his crew.

“Irene” from Florida takes home 24 thousand for their 59.5-pound Dolphin. Angler Vernon Merritt Jr. of Chincoteague and his boat the “10-4 Joker” with a 29-pound Dolphin, good for $91,000.

There were no Swordfish that qualified in this year’s tournament.
