With close Wicomico County Executive primary race, both sides await mail and provisional ballots to decide outcome
SALISBURY, Md- Julie Giordano is in the lead in the Wicomico County Executive race, but it’s still unclear who will come out on top.
Giordano is currently up by nearly 500 votes and 7 percent over incumbent Acting County Executive John Psota.
However, that lead could be wiped away, as mail-in and provisional ballots have yet to be counted.
Giordano tells 47ABC she is credibly proud of her grassroots campaign and says she feels confident as those outstanding votes are tallied.
“I feel good I mean we were very excited on election nights but we are realistic and understand there are 1,000 mail-in ballots so we are patiently waiting but I am so proud of our team and I think you could see the fruits of our labor on election night,” she said.
She says she believes her vocal presence, and her position as a teacher has helped her with voters and says the results on election day were part of a larger red-wave of conservative voters turning out across the state.
The results of those mail-in and provisional ballots will be tallied by the 29th.
47abc also reached out to John Psota to get his take- he was unavailable to comment.
