Sen. Carper’s Bill to protect national waterways and beaches passes US Senate 90-1

NATIONAL NEWS- A new senate bill has put Delaware one step closer to protections for its waterways and beaches.
Senator Tom Carper was one of the sponsors of the Water resource development act that just passed the senate with a 90 to 1 record vote.
Senator Carper says those bipartisan numbers show that the government is working for Americans and Delawareans.
He tells us the new bill would allow for more secured funding for maintaining waterways and channels for shipping in the first state and add more money for the army corps of engineers to preserve and protect Delaware’s beaches.
“a lot of people love our beaches we have more 5-star beaches in Delaware than any other state and the work that the army corp of engineers does preserves that and when we have a noreaster, they don’t just preserve their beach their work means that towns like Rehoboth Bethany and Dewey arent wiped out they are still there after,” Senator Carper said.
The bill now heads to the house for re-conciliation and Senator Carper says he is confident it pass with no major changes.
