Shorebird standout Kjerstad promoted to Aberdeen

SALISBURY, Md. – Heston Kjerstad has been promoted to Aberdeen from the Delmarva Shorebirds after overwhelming the competition in Low-A ball.

Kjerstad, the second-overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft, got his first taste of professional baseball with the Shorebirds this summer. He first appeared with Delmarva on June 10, collecting his first hit and RBI against Fayetteville in a 7-1 loss.

The 6-3 slugging outfielder from Arkansas was one of the lone bright spots for a team that has struggled to a 26-54 record through their first 80 contests.

While on the Shorebirds Kjerstad collected 2 home runs, 9 doubles, walked 13 times while striking out in 17 at bats, all while batting .463. It was enough to prove to the Baltimore Orioles brass that it was time to move Kjerstad up to their High-A affiliate.
