Inside the Delaware State Fair: The Clean Up Crew that makes it happen

DELAWARE STATE FAIR- At the Delaware State Fair you can get all kinds of food from all kinds of vendors, but behind the scenes, a crew of dedicated clean team members are busy making sure any trash generated by vendors is disposed of as quickly as possible.
One member of the clean team, Steven Miller manages 15 vendors solo, picking up empty boxes, emptying trash cans and keeping the vendors tidy and clean for all customers/
“Without him I mean It just piles up it brings flies and pests and that’s a huge no-go for food service,” said Hunter Piche of Piche’s Concessions.
“This young man works the hardest I’ve ever seen anybody work out here,” said vendor Margaret Alvy, adding “We need him so bad because we through a lot of volume of customers, and without him we’d be so backed up,.”
With his wagon in one hand and any trash that needs removing in the other Jason patrols his 15 vendors all day long, and vendors say that’s no small feet when they’re handling a rush of customers.
“Steven is the absolute best he goes up and down the row taking out everyone’s trash and boxes and double checking to see if there is anything he can help out with he is the man,” Piche said.
Steven tells he gets running a vending stand can be hectic, with not a lot of time to clean up, that’s why he says he loves to help out.
“It honestly feels pretty good, without me there would be boxes and garbage everywhere and when people are cooking they say hey can you take it out but they would be busy,” he said.
When Steven does have a moment, he likes to make a stop at one his food vendors; Authentic Poutine, to stop for a quick snack and vendors say steven comes by, his money’s no good.
“He helps us out we help him out,” said Authentic Poutine Owner Mike Ckaks.
But its not long before he’s back to making the rounds and making a difference.
“After my break I saw okay Steven those boxes arent going to clean themselves so I get up and I get to it,” Miller said.
