City of Cambridge accepting mayoral candidates

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Cambridge mayoral election is just weeks away.

So far 3 people have petitioned to seek the position. With only 1 qualified right now and the other 2 are still being evaluated. The deadline to request candidacy is July 27th. Officials tell us as they continue to strengthen the community, its important to make your voice heard because this is a vital community role.

“The mayor’s position is the only city-wide position representing the community…the mayor is the key role to speak on the city and to advocate for the city of Cambridge so it’s a really important role and important to have someone in that position soon,” says City Manager Tom Carroll.

The list of qualified candidates for this election will not be released until July 27th. If you aren’t able to get to the polls, the link to get your mail-in ballot is here. The Cambridge mayoral election will be held on August 23rd.
