Andy Harris one of 10 republicans in meeting with Trump Team prior to Jan 6th
UNITED STATES – New information is emerging about Maryland congressman Andy Harris and his role in planning the January 6th insurrection at the Capitol.
According to the January 6th committee, Harris was one of 10 republican lawmakers who was part of a closed-door hearing with the President and others. The Washington Post reports that “Harris’s attendance indicates he was more intimately involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 election results than previously known, making him one of Trump’s closest allies in Congress as the president tried to cling to power.”
The announcement is drawing strong condemnation from Maryland Democrats, including Heather Mizeur, who is running against Harris for Maryland’s first congressional district.
“Andy Harris is a traitor to our nation, he broke his oath of office and to the constitution and we’ve always known he voted against the peaceful transfer of power but now we know he was one of ten in the room,” she said.
In a statement to 47ABC, Rep. Harris’ office said in response to the hearing the congressman said ‘I haven’t had a chance to watch the hearing today, I was busy working on important issues like bringing down the price of gas and groceries and securing our communities against violent crime.”
