$18.8 million set to to support Chesapeake Bay Restoration projects
Some of those projects include improving water quality and habitat in the bay and helping with stream restoration and stormwater management. Governor Larry Hogan announced the funding saying this is a part of his administration’s commitment to environmental stewardship, allowing them to make record investments in these projects. 47 ABC spoke with the Atlantic coastal bays trust fund to learn just how far this funding could go.
“We’re trying to implement as many projects as we can to prevent nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus and sediment from getting in the bay…we’re really trying to create a healthy ecosystem in the bay. 1.48 and promote healthy recreating as well in its waters,” says Dana Reiss, the Program Manager with the Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund.
This funding is available immediately. The organization also has a grant gateway open that will also be available and you’re encouraged to apply to help the environment.
