Higher Ground Outreach seeks physical location to better help homeless in Georgetown

Location For Homeless Help

GEORGETOWN, De-  Higher Ground Outreach in Georgetown, an organization that works to bring help, transportation and food to the homeless,  is announcing its search for a permanent office to help better coordinate services.

They say homeless people have a hard time making appointments, and getting to crucial places where services, food, shelter and medical care can happen.

Higher Ground Outreach works to transport people from the street to those shelters, but they say they are a small team, and can only be at one place and helping one group or individual at a time.

They say with over 45 people now residing in Georgetown’s homeless tent city, it was time for them to explore new options to help get people on their feet.

“A central location would be wonderful so they can access and get to us at any moment that they need help or resources they could come to our office if we had one,” said Higher Ground Outreach Volunteer Lou Hernadez.

He tells us the organization is still exploring fundraising options and hoping to partner with the town of Georgetown to get a location approved.
