Del. Marijuana advocates plan Dover rally to push lawmakers to override governor’s veto

DOVER, De- Marijuana advocates are calling on Delaware Lawmakers to overturn Governor Carney’s veto of HB371; which would allow for decriminalize possession of less than an ounce of marijuana for anyone over 21.
Delaware Cannabis Advocacy Network says the bill passed with a veto-proof majority, and their rally will push lawmakers to vote the same way and pass the bill when the session returns.
“We are hoping that all the lawmakers that already voted yes to restore rights and freedoms for Delaware adults will continue to vote yes and stand against this override,” said DACN Director Zoe Patchell.
Patchell says her group won’t be alone, and will be joined by doctors groups, medical advocacy groups and veterans groups.
Veterans tell 47abc, that with marijuana treatment banned from being prescribed by the VA, they are hoping adult-use legalization will allow those without a medical card to be able to get the treatment that they say helps with PTSD, anxiety, and depression without being prescribed addictive pharmaceuticals.
“That opens up a large door for veterans to have that access and have that treatment option of their own free will,” said Sgt. James Buldus who plans to attend the rally.
The Veto Override rally will be held outside of the Delaware Legislative Hall Tuesday June 7th and will include speakers including the bill’s prime sponsors Rep. Ed Osienski and Sen. Trey Paradee.
