Wicomico County Executive candidates prepare for forum at Salisbury University

SALISBURY, Md. – Three candidates for Wicomico County Executive are gearing up for a forum Wednesday night. The forum is being sponsored by the Greater Salisbury Committee (GSC), the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, and PACE at Salisbury University.

Acting County Executive John Psota, Wicomico County Council Vice President Ernest Davis, and Wicomico County educator Julie Giordano will try to win votes for the upcoming election. “They each bring a really different approach to public service. Two of them have served, one of them has not. So, I think it’s going to be an interesting evening,” said President and CEO of GSC Mike Dunn.

Dunn says the candidates will face a host of topics. The audience can expect answers on questions about water and sewer issues, broadband, and how the candidates would lead the County.  “There are water and sewer challenges, broadband challenges. There are function of government and civility challenges. There’s airport and economic growth. It’s the standard stuff. So, hopefully each candidate is ready to answer a whole range of questions,” said Dunn.

Not only is the forum an opportunity for candidates to win votes; Dunn says it’s also a chance for the community to learn more about those asking for their ballot choices. “I think people want to genuinely come see, watch, listen, and see which of these people they can size up and see as their next County Executive,” said Dunn. “For a lot of people, meeting these candidates and seeing them perform as candidates and as potential County Executives will be a first.”

The forum is happening Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 pm, at Salisbury University’s Guerrieri Student Union, in the Wicomico Room. 47 ABC’s Hannah Cechini will be moderating the forum.
