Pair arrested in connection to numerous Sussex Co. thefts

SUSSEX CO., Del. – Two suspects are behind bars following an investigation into numerous thefts in the Sussex County area.

Throughout March and April 2022, Delaware State Police have received numerous reports of thefts of watercraft equipment and accessories that were occurring in boatyards in Lewes, Millsboro, and Milford. Detectives were able to develop two suspects in these incidents as 30-year-old Christian O’Leary and 34-year-old Jacob Steele.

At around 10:30 p.m. Friday, troopers located the pair driving on southbound Coastal Highway at Miller Road in Rehoboth Beach. Troopers stopped the vehicle and were able to arrest both suspects.

Police charged the pair with attempted theft over $1500 where victim is 62 years or older, four counts of theft over $1500, three counts of criminal mischief, three counts of second degree criminal trespass, and three counts of third degree criminal trespass. O’Leary was held at SCI on a $4,875 secured bond, while Steele was held at SCI on a $9,500 secured bond.
