Governor of the first state weighs in on roe v. wade national controversy

DELAWARE – As the country continues to deal with the current controversy, Roe vs. Wade, Delaware Governor John Carney is weighing in on the subject.

According to the Governor, they’ve already produced legislation that protects individuals and thinks that’s the way it should be.

House Bill 320, which was recently signed into law allows more health care providers to prescribe medication to terminate pregnancies. While Republican lawmakers stood firm on their beliefs, Governor Carney says Delawareans can know they’re safe in the first state. “We’ve already taken the steps that other states are wrestling with now so that should provide some level of comfort, although I know it’s a very emotional issue for many folks,” says Gov. Carney. He adds, “I think it basically says to women that we protect your privacy rights, these are very difficult decisions, they’re made privately and they ought to be.”

Abortion is regulated and legal in the first state.
