Millsboro man charged with stealing Mercedes, possession of marijuana

DAGSBORO, Del. – 30-year-old Arkeem Adkins of Millsboro is now facing multiple charges after police say he stole a Mercedes.

Delaware State Police say around 3:32 p.m. on April 23rd, a trooper spotted a black Mercedes C300 speeding in the area of Iron Branch Road and Bunting Road. The trooper pulled the vehicle over on Colonial Estates Avenue, and made contact with Adkins, who was behind the wheel.

Police say the trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed 0.078 grams of marijuana. A computer search showed that Adkins had a suspended drivers license and an active warrant for his arrest. It was also revealed that the Mercedes had been reported stolen on April 21st.

Adkins was taken to Troop 4 and charged with motor vehicle theft, theft under $1,500, possession of marijuana, speeding, and driving with a suspended license. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #3, and taken to Sussex Correctional Institution on $500 secured bond.
