Millsboro man arrested after traffic stop reveals gun, marijuana
MILLSBORO, Del. – A 25-year-old Millsboro man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop Saturday night.
Police say around 7:06 p.m., a Delaware State Police trooper saw Andrew Long driving a Ford Explorer in the area of Park Avenue in Georgetown. Long reportedly had warrants for his arrest, and did not have a valid driver’s license.
The trooper attempted to pull Long over. But, police say Long got out of the vehicle and ran away, carrying a handgun. The trooper chased Long, who eventually gave up, dropped the gun, and was arrested. Police say the 9mm handgun was loaded. Searching Long’s vehicle, police found about 1.3 grams of marijuana.
Long was taken to Troop 4 and charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, three counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He is also charged with resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, failure to have insurance, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Long was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court #3. He was taken to Sussex Correctional Institution on $101,502 cash bond.
