Dover pedestrian stop reveals concealed gun

MAGNOLIA, Del. – A Dover man is facing multiple charges after police found him to be carrying a concealed weapon in Magnolia.

Delaware State Police say around 9:39 p.m. on April 9th, a trooper responded to the area of Briarbush Road and Woodleytown Road for a report of a pedestrian in the roadway, causing a traffic hazard. The pedestrian was identified as 43-year-old Eldridge Brundge. Police say he was not equipped with a light, and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.

Brundge tried to run away from police, but the trooper was able to catch him a short distance away. Searching Brundge, police found a concealed and loaded Springfield handgun. Police say Brundge is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Brundge was taken to Troop 3 and charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He is also charged with possession of a firearm while under the influence, resisting arrest, being drunk on a highway, and failure to carry a light on a public roadway. Brundge was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court #7, and taken to Sussex Correctional Institution on $3,550 secured bond.
