WiHi rallies, advances to 2A Final Four

SALISBURY, Md. – WiHi rallied from an 18-point first half deficit and held off a last-second rally to defeat Liberty, 62-61, Friday night.

Liberty held a commanding 28-10 lead with 5:30 left in the second quarter. That’s when the tide began to turn.

With every bucket, the Tribe’s confidence grew. WiHi eventually completed a 20-0 run to take a 30-28 lead into halftime.

The Lions didn’t quit despite the Tribe run. The two squads went back and forth in the second half with WiHi grabbing a 6-point lead in the final minute. Liberty fought back to cut it to a one-point lead with 5.8 seconds remaining.

WiHi used two inbounds plays to run their clock out and punch their ticket to the MPSSAA 2A Final Four.

BJ Cook led the way with 22 points for WiHi, Jaydon Handy added 15, Jaylin Deshiell-Andrews had 14.
