Woman arrested for DUI after early morning crash in New Church

NEW CHURCH, Va. – A Parksley woman was arrested for driving under the influence early Sunday morning.

Virginia State Police say around 3:34 a.m., 27-year-old Shantiya Shaquanay Wiley was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Route 13. That’s when she hit a utility pole, toppling it over. The vehicle continued, eventually crashing into a concrete barrier. The crash happened near the New Church Scales. Wiley was not hurt in the crash.

Troopers responded to the scene and arrested Wiley for driving under the influence. The scene has since been cleared.
