WiHi gets even with Bennett, wins Bayside South crown

SALISBURY, Md. – WiHi boys basketball added yet another Bayside South title defeating Bennett, 65-59, Thursday night at the Wallerdome.

WiHi started strong out of the gate, quickly building a double-digit lead after four minutes of play.

Bennett would make runs, eventually clawing back within five points early in the third, but the Tribe were in control from the opening tip.

Four WiHi players scored at least 14 — Jaylin Deshiell-Andrews (16), Jaydon Handy (15), Malique Leatherbury (14), and BJ Cook (14).

Ja’Ron Smith led all scorers with 24 for Bennett, Zakai Smullen added 13 for the Clippers.

WiHi finishes the season 19-1, and will play the winner of the Bayside North division in the conference championship Wednesday at Queen Anne’s High School at 6 PM.
