Residential fires cause heavy damage in Dewey Beach and Millsboro
DELAWARE – The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a pair of fires that heavily damaged residential buildings Saturday night.
Investigators say just before 8:00 p.m., a fire broke out in the 1700 block of Bayard Avenue. The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company responded, along with neighboring mutual aid fire companies.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation. Investigators say the building is a three-story, multi-family residential structure. The fire caused about $75,000 in damage.
Around 8:15 p.m., several fire companies were dispatched to the area of 25000 Guinea Hollow Road and Friendship Road for a house fire. Firefighters found an attached garage burning, with flames quickly closing in on the house.
A deputy fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate. The cause and origin of the fire remain unknown. There were no reported injuries. Fire damage was estimated at $80,000.
