Police investigating Dorchester Co. inmate death

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Police are investigating after an inmate was found dead in his cell over the weekend.

Deputies were called to the Dorchester County Detention Center on Saturday for an unresponsive inmate. On arrival, deputies learned that 35-year-old Charles William Jones III had been found unresponsive in his cell. Detention Center staff and EMS immediately tried to revive Jones but were unsuccessful.

Jones was arrested last week in connection to a double homicide in the Cambridge area.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and State’s Attorney’s Office are conducting the investigation.
