Delaware State Police investigating fatal crash in Seaford
SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened early Sunday morning.
The crash happened around 7:15 a.m., in the area of Seaford Road and Easter Lane. Police say an 18-year-old Delmar, Del. man was driving southbound in a 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, when he went off the road and hit a wooden fence. The pickup truck then sideswiped a large tree, went airborne, and hit a parked vehicle in a driveway. The pickup rolled, before hitting another large tree and landing on its roof.
The driver of the pickup was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Seaford Road was closed for about 3.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Senior Corporal Ryan Albert at (302) 703-3266.
