Delaware Senators working to address seasonal worker shortage with visa cap relief.

DELAWARE-  U.S. Senator Chris Coons and U.S. Senator Tom Carper along with other U.S. senators are urging the Department of Homeland Security to address the seasonal worker shortage with visa cap relief.

Sen. Coons along with other U.S. senators wrote a bipartisan letter to the Department of Homeland Security requesting they release the maximum allowable number of additional H-2B visas for the Fiscal year 2022. They’re hoping to get that up and running by April 1st.

Sen. Carper tells 47 ABC in a statement, “From our beach businesses to our inland communities, so many businesses in Delaware depend on seasonal employees to keep their operations going. It’s crucial to the economy of our state, and our entire country that we release the maximum H-2B visas and expedite the processing of these applications, so businesses are ready to meet their customers’ demands this spring.”

The senators also say they eagerly await a response from the Department of Homeland Security.
