12 y/o, 13 y/o, 16 y/o charged with string of burglaries in Millsboro
MILLSBORO, Del. – Three juvenile males are facing serious charges after breaking into multiple campers inside the Rehoboth Shores development Saturday afternoon.
Police responded to a home on the 24000 block of Henlopen Boulevard for a burglary in progress. A live camera feed from inside the home captured the suspects, and information was given to troopers. Troopers established a perimeter, and found three juveniles in the area of Redwing Lane.
Police say a 13-year-old suspect tried to run away but was quickly caught and arrested. A 16-year-old suspect also tried to flee on foot, but was caught and arrested after a brief chase. A 12-year-old suspect was arrested without incident. Troopers found a discarded gun near where the juveniles were found. Police say the 13-year-old suspect was seen carrying the firearm. Investigators later found that the three suspects burglarized four other residences in the area.
The 16-year-old is charged with five counts of second degree burglary, five counts of second degree conspiracy, and attempt to commit theft where the victim is 62 years of age or older. He is also charged with resisting arrest, theft under $1,500, and three counts of attempt to commit theft under $1,500. The suspect is being held at the Stevenson House on $62,000 secured bond.
Meanwhile, the 13-year-old is facing five counts of second degree burglary, five counts of second degree conspiracy, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile. He is also charged with attempt to commit theft where the victim is 62 years of age or older, theft of a firearm, resisting arrest, theft under $1,500, and three counts of attempt to commit theft under $1,500. The suspect was released to a guardian without bond.
