Two bodies recovered from Dorchester Co. house fire

TODDVILLE, Md. – Two people are dead after a fire broke out in a Dorchester County home Saturday night. Deputy State Fire Marshals say the one story, wood frame home at 2628 Toddville Road went up in flames around 7:48 p.m.

The fire was reported by a neighbor, prompting 35 firefighters to respond. Lakes and Straits Volunteer Fire Department says they were able to get the fire under control in just under an hour.

While firefighters were battling the flames, they found two unidentified bodies in the wreckage. They were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for identification and to determine the cause of death. Deputy State Fire Marshals were not able to find any smoke alarms in the the remains of the home.

Investigators say the victims are believed to be residents of the home. However, that information is expected to be confirmed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
