Delaware State Police identify 17-year-old victim of fatal crash in Milton

MILTON, Del. – Delaware State Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash that happened Saturday morning. Police say 17-year-old Ryan Carbajal of Georgetown was killed after a head on collision on Lewes-Georgetown Highway (Route 9), west of Hudson Road.

Around 7:55 a.m., police say Carbajal was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic westbound on Route 9. At the same time, a 2018 Kia Optima being driven by a 30-year-old Lewes man was traveling eastbound on the same road.

Police say for unknown reasons, Carbajal’s vehicle went into the eastbound lane, directly into the path of the Kia. The two vehicles collided head on in the middle of the eastbound lane. After the impact, Carbajal’s Chevrolet came to a stop in the road. The Kia went off the road.
