COVID Boosters required by USM for residential students living on campus

Covid Vax Boosters, 3rd Doses

MARYLAND — The University System of Maryland announced today that all students living on a USM campus during the Spring 2022 semester must receive an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

On the Eastern Shore, this applies to Salisbury University and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. This booster shot will be in addition to the initial round of vaccination. Students who have been reported exempt from the vaccination are not subject to the booster requirement. Each USM institution will share its implementation details for students including the deadlines to receive their booster. As well as the proper way to verify your vaccination status.

The CDC says that the initial round of vaccination plus a booster shot provides optimal protection against COVID and the USM strongly encourages all students, faculty, and staff to get a booster as soon as they’re eligible.

The USM does acknowledge the USM universities doing an extraordinary job of responding to the COVID pandemic. USM continues to analyze the latest COVID data and policy developments so that our institutions can approach the spring 2022 semester with the best information possible during their decisions.
