Shepherd’s Office hosts christmas present giveaway
SALISBURY, Md- The Shepherd’s Office in Georgetown held a Christmas giveaway of presents and food for over 300 people Saturday.
The organization says they have raised nearly two trailers full of donations, one filled with gifts for children and the other filled with adult gifts like clothing and appliances organizers say they are encouraged by the amount of support they have seen from the Delmarva community. Free food and haircuts were also being offered, for the crowd that gathered inside and in the backyard of the Shepherds Office building.
“The community came through people were stopping in every day we were able to fill the trailers with just about any type of gift for a young girl or older boy and we had a trailer of clothes or adults so its a success and worked out better than we expected,” said volunteer Lour Hernandez.
Hernandez tells us on the day they were able to raise more than enough presents for those who arrived, with toys also being thrown to the crowd along with candy and clothes. Organizer Jim Martin tells us, it was the volunteers that they were short of to help distribute all the presents for the crowd.
“We ended up with two Santas and not enough elves not enough hands to handle the rush,” he said.
