Maryland Health Departments remain without county covid numbers weeks after CyberAttack

Free Covid 19 Testing

MARYLAND- As Omicron cases rise across the country, counties in Maryland are still unable to see just how many new cases are being identified.

A cyberattack on the Maryland department of health at the beginning of December prompted health officials to bring down the servers updating the latest county coronavirus numbers. According to the Worcester County Health Department, those servers are still down, and while counties can still provide tests, with the system being down state-wide, case information has yet to be updated on a county by county level.

“The state is slowly getting that online but when it rains it pours so we are dealing with this pandemic spike and this outage,” said Worcester County Health Department PIO Travis Brown.

Brown tells us they are in contact with MDH officials and expect the system to come back online in the coming weeks. The last time the Worcester County Covid19 dashboard reflected an update of cases was December 4th.
