MARYLAND – Governor Larry Hogan announced that the state of Maryland has passed a major milestone in the fight against COVID-19. As of Sunday, Maryland has administered at least 10 million vaccinations.

As the Omicron variant becomes more dominant, state health officials are continuing to urge people to get their booster shots as soon as possible.

“Preliminary data shows that higher levels of immunity from booster shots provide critical protection against the Omicron variant, making it vital for all eligible Marylanders to get a booster as soon as possible,” said Gov. Hogan. “It is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your fellow Marylanders against a winter surge.”

About 1.4 million of those vaccinations are booster shots. 90.8% of Marylanders aged 18 and older have gotten at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Maryland is also reporting more than 151,000 vaccinations for children between five and eleven years old. That’s 29.1% of the age group population.
