Christmas in west Dover to help bring community together

DOVER, Del. – Friday, Christmas Eve in Dover, the Learning Tree Children’s Academy is hosting a free event called ‘A Christmas on Loockerman Street,’ with a focus on making positive movement in the community. Jonnell Singh, owner of the Learning Tree Children’s Academy tells 47 ABC, they’re giving away free food, toys, gloves, and hats for the holidays.

Singh says every since opening her academy, she’s noticed a need in the Western Dover area. They started feeding the homeless during and Thanksgiving and wanted to use Christmas as another opportunity to reach out.

She tells us, organizations and businesses like hers can get involved and should. “God laid it on my heart that this community needed to be shown some love, and I just had the desire to do that,” says Singh. She adds, “But I want it to go deeper than just decorating the streets, I want it to be where we’re actually hitting the streets, impacting the community actually making a difference.”

We’re also told, Singh wants to continue building connections with other organizations to host more events like these.

The Christmas event is from 12 to 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve at 403 Loockerman Street in Dover, Delaware.
