Worcester County GOLD lends ‘helping hand’ to those in need for holiday season

SNOW HILL, Md. – It’s giving season, and in Worcester County, one non-profit is lending a helping hand this holiday for community members in need.

Worcester County GOLD’S Helping Hands For The Holidays initiative collects gifts for local children and adults in need.

Gift donations include toys $50 or under. Requests come from community partners including the Department of Social Services and the Health Department, submitting referrals that are then matched with a recipient. Last year, the organization was able to provide gifts for 649 children 74 adults.

Executive Director Nicholas Cranford tells us that although the organization is small, with the support of the community they’ve been able to make a lasting impact on many lives.

“Last year we had someone sign up to sponsor wanting to buy gifts for a family and told us they had been a recipient in the past. They said they benefited from the program but were in a position now to give back,” Cranford said. “It was really exciting to see that we were able to be there for someone when they were down on their luck and now we’re here for them to give them the opportunity to give back in the same way.”

Worcester County Gold is accepting requests for those in need till December 3rd and toy donations through December 10th. If you’d like to find out more, click here
