Two charged in connection to Accomack Co. shooting

NELSONIA, Va. – Police in Accomack County say two people are behind bars following a shooting that left one injured.

Police say the incident took place just before 2:30 a.m. Friday, in the area of Johnson Court. On arrival, officers began checking the area and contacting residents. While on scene, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a gunshot victim in the same area.

We’re told the 30-year-old male victim was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional where he is currently in stable condition.

Further investigation led to warrants being obtained for 25-year-old Rudy Velazquez Hernandez of Parksley and 23-year-old Ulialdo Galindo Aguilar Meji of Arkansas. Hernandez has been charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm in a dwelling and reckless handling of a firearm. Meji was charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and aggravated malicious wounding.

Both suspects are being held at the Accomack County Jail without bond.
