Car-parade birthday party held for 7-year-old Dover boy with cystic fibrosis
DOVER, Del. – A 7-year-old boy in Dover who’s battling cystic fibrosis received a very special birthday party from his community.
Dallas Moore-Savitz’s condition leaves him especially vulnerable to COVID-19, and unable to go to school, hang out with his friends in person, or have a typical birthday party.
That’s why his parents decided to give him an extra special one with the help of the community.
On Saturday, over 150 cars stopped by his home in Dover, including local police cars, fire trucks, and participants of a nearby car show; all with signs, well wishes, and presents for Dallas. His parents tell us they were thrilled so many people decided to make today a birthday to remember for their son. They say the whole event was a total surprise for Dallas and the look on his face when he realized made it all worth it.
“His reaction was the best but seeing the number of people that came was overwhelming in the best way because people were saying maybe they could come so we didn’t expect a whole lot and we just were thankful for anyone who was able to come to the fact that many people showed up, I was so emotional it was crazy,” parents, Halie and Michael Moore said.
The Moores say Dallas has been a champion through nearly two years of remote learning, never complaining and always in good spirits and they wanted to reward his efforts.
