Washington High School Admin; “Fights Must Stop”
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Administrators at Washington High School are speaking out after multiple fights at the school this week.
The fights broke out on school grounds and involved students and even parents attacking kids. Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Gaddis tells us, oftentimes, these fights involve issues that people have in the community and unfortunately, they come to the school to resolve them. He says any fighting will result in multiple days of suspension for students as well as consequences for recording the fights and circulating them on social media.
“People really believe it’s acceptable to fight at school and it’s not,” Dr. Gaddis said adding “it’s an unfortunate situation, we are not making excuses, but it is pretty bad when parents are involved in high school drama and get involved in fights like yesterday at the bus loop.”
He believes many of these fights are scheduled and he believes if kids know about it before, they have a responsibility to speak up. He tells us he understands these fights don’t represent the majority of his students and he hopes this week can help get students invested in making a change.
